Wednesday morning started with bible study and then quickly changed to a presentation on Judicial selection. The Judiciary committee passed a bill out of committee to change the method of Judicial selection. The bill will make it to the house floor for debate now. The bill passed out of committee uses the federal model for selection. The Governor will appoint and the Senate confirm. I was told that it was a close vote coming out of committee. We had our first joint committee meeting with the Senate in the Health and Human Services Committee. The room was absolutely packed. Most of the time was spent on Kancare with presentations from the Secretary of KDHE and the Secretary of KDADS. I had a meeting with a person representing one of the MCO's in Kancare and one person representing the Physical Therapist Association. Then we had a dinner and 3 receptions to go to last night. At the dinner for the Kansas Grain and Feed Association I met two constituents from my district and an old classmate from Buhler. So, at dinner at sat at the table with my high school classmates Charles Gabehart, Keith Esau and Constituent Russ Ronnebaum. It was a great evening. I normally don't spend to much time at any one event. But, in this case I was there two and a half hours because it was nice catching up with Charles and I really enjoyed getting to know Russ. What a great evening. Happy Thursday from Topeka.
