Good morning, Wednesday was indeed an interesting day. The emails during the day and especially last evening intensified. From 5 to 7 pm I received over 100 emails on HB 2023. I would say I received another 50 from 7 pm to 10 pm. It was interesting that most of them did not come from constituents. I check every email to see if it is from a constituent. Those that are not, I do not respond to. I thank Ken Lewellen a friend of mine and constituent for the post on Facebook. I understand your position and appreciate the tenor of your post, civil is nice. That is the one thing I would say to those that want their voice heard. Those that write a personal email and are nice about it carries more weight with me than those that are mean spirited and in attack mode. I had a teacher call last evening and she was as nice as could be and expressed her concerns and I listened to her and would like to hear from her again on future issues. You catch more fly's with honey than vinegar. On a different subject we are starting to hear bills in the Health committee. We heard testimony on HB 2066. This bill would allow people to self refer to a Physical Therapist without going to a doctor to get a referral. Seventeen states currently allow this and I believe it is another 17 states allow some form of limited self referral. We had 4 people speak for the bill, 4 speak against and 1 neutral speaker. So, in the Health committee we have now heard testimony on two bills. Things are starting to pick up. Happy Thursday from Topeka.
