Tuesday was another day at the Capitol. Some days it is hard to find something to write about. In the Health committee we heard testimony on COPD HB 2184. I was having a hard time with this bill as I just could not understand why we need a law for the Department of Health and Environment to come up with a comprehensive plan for the treatment of COPD. To me this just looks like more government. We also heard HB 2187 the Message Therapist Licensure bill. Most of the feed back I am getting on HB 2187 is the message therapist want to make their profession more legitimate in the eyes of the public by being licensed. On a positive note, in the Financial Institutions committee we heard testimony to repeal law. How often do you hear of a law being repealed. HB 2152 will repeal the uniform land sales practices act. According to testimony, the Securities Commission has not had an investigation in years. So, a law will be taken off of the books if passed by the legislature. Happy Wednesday from Topeka.
