My quote of the day I hope will spon some discussion about the State of our Union as well as the State of our State or at least some thought. My quote of the day for those that have not seen it is: "Can any of you seriously say the Bill of Rights could get through Congress today? It wouldn't even get out of committee". ~F. Lee Bailey

I found this quote to be very interesting to ponder. After my first session in the Kansas House I would say if we tried to pass the Bill of Rights in Kansas today it would not make it above the line to be debated and voted on by the whole house or the committee of the whole. First we would have a least one person who will be nameless that would probably portray it as an effort to keep the little person down. Second we would have another person that would say it was an effort to bolster the Koch brothers. The debate would take hours and never get enough votes from the republicans to pass it. Whether we like it or not our republican house caucus is fractured. The Kansas Senate would pass it quickly. The republican party has to come together or we will not do much of a job of governing in Kansas. On the federal level the house would pass it and the senate would not bring it up. So, it is stalled never to be passed on the federal level. Think about it and I am sure you will agree.
