Tuesday was a wild day. Session started at 9 am and finished a little before 9 pm. At the end of the day any bills not heard will have to wait until next year. There are a lot of bills that were not heard in the Committee of the Whole including a Health Insurance Mandate Lite bill. I really wanted that bill to be heard. Not to be this year. Bill HB2403 the Bonding bill for KPERS was the third bill heard yesterday. Our Pensions and Benefits Chairman carried the bill and 5 of us from the committee went to the well to support the bill. The bill passed final action yesterday and will go to the Senate for consideration. We are now off until Monday when the conference committees start their process of compromise and then send bills back to the House and Senate for consideration. We are getting close now. After next week we will have 4 weeks off and then back for the veto session. Happy Wednesday from Topeka.
