Sunday was a day of rest and I truly needed it. Today we start a new day in Topeka. I should get the insurance bill I am sponsoring from the Revisor of Statutes office. Did you ever wonder how all of these bills are written. Did you think we are so smart that we can write them ourselves. Wrong! Once we have the language we want for a bill we take it to the Revisor of Statues office for them to put it in Bill form and make sure it will not be unconstitutional. Needless to say the revisors are attorneys and they have seen most things so they can scan through the copy you give them and make suggestions for changes that will make the bill work. So, after a week at the revisor of Statutes office I will get the bill back and look it over to make sure it is what I want. Then I will go about getting co-sponsors to sign onto my bill. Today and tomorrow I will be getting co-sponsors and then I will turn it into the Chief Clerk of the House and have it read in to the House and then it will be assigned to the insurance committee. That is just the start. It has a long way to go to become law, if it ever does. But this is the year for this bill. I am hopeful it will make it through. Happy Monday from Topeka.
