Today I attended the KLEAR (Kansas Legislative Education and Research) Annual Retreat in Topeka. It was a great use of a Saturday in December. We heard from our Governor Sam Brownback. He shared with us some of his agenda for the next year. The media portrays him as a person that does not have any compassion for others. I find that to be far from the truth. We heard from our Secretary of State and some things he would like to see from the legislature this next year. We heard from the Securities Commissioner and he shared with us a Constitutional Amendment that he would like to see passed. We heard presentation from the Kansas Wine and Spirits Wholesalers Association, the Federalist Society, a KU Law Professor on Judicial selection, Kansas Policy Institute, Uncork Kansas and the Kansas Dental Association. It was a very informative meeting. If you are a legislator and missed this you missed out on an opportunity to hear about issues we will be working on during the next legislative session. Thanks to all that worked so hard to put on this meeting.
