Today I had two legislative type meetings. The first meeting was with a representative of USD 259. We met at a Title 1 school and I took a tour and listened to their success stories. The second meeting was a luncheon with Sedgwick County. It was truly a worth while meeting where I gained a lot of information. The most talked about topic was the difficulty of keeping the Judge Riddel Boys Ranch open. They are asking for an additional 1.5 million dollars in state funding to keep the facility open. Without that additional funding it will be difficult to keep it open. I am sure we will see more about this during the legislative session. It was a great meeting. Thanks to the Sedgwick County Commissioners for hosting this meeting.
