Thursday was a busy schedule. I attended the Wichita Independent Business Association (WIBA) legislative meeting in the morning. They had presentation by several people, and I found them all interesting and there were subjects that we will be dealing with during the next legislative session. Gary Oborney made a presentation on Storm Water Quality and it's effect on business in Wichita. His group has really been working outside the box to bring regulators to a point where they can work with them on this issue. We heard a presentation from Jerry Capps of Allen, Gibbs and Houlick about the tax law passed this last session and the technical fixes that are being looked at to correct some problems in the law. We heard from a gentleman from Print Source as he talked about the affect government rules and regulations have on business and the price we pay for these mandates. Finally, we heard from Tim Witsman, the President of WIBA. He talked about the survey results from their membership. Taxes and Health Care are still at the top of their concerns. All in all it was a great meeting and gave me items to look at and study up on before the start of the next session.
